The plot thickens, and many readers are probably confused; that’s fine. Cymberlight was always meant to be on another level compared to the previous comics, because it aims to deliver a more complete story which doesn’t necessarely revolve solely around Jack and Cynthia, but involves other dynamics and sub-plots.
That being said… Reiji’s concern is understandable, don’t you think so?
