Cynthia still has a massive crush on Jack even though he looks he drank an entire bottle of hydrogen peroxide and somehow miraculously survived?
In this part, what caught my attention the most was what Gregory said about Jack, “he got what he deserved”. Perhaps it was a way of saying that it was something that sooner or later would happen to Jack, due to his bad decisions. Even though Greg loves Jack like a son, his love for Cynthia is greater. In the past, I’m not sure if he was supporting Cynthia’s wish of staying away from Jack as a way to protect her or if he did so by supporting Jack’s decision to stay away from her for the same reason. When you realize that the title for this volume could literaly just be foreshadowing how cynthia will throw jack off of a bridge for some heinous, as of yet unrevealed crime (I am slightly frightened)

I always love when the face looks so dark, but the eyes are so bright
